Chapter 8 Miya-sama ni TS Tensei

Chapter 8 I am Sakurako. And am an actress

(TN: sorry if there isn't any exact schedule for updates, but I would post an update as soon as possible, and I always begun translating as soon as I posted an update too. It just that my almost obsolete phone couldn't keep up even if I tried to translate all day. Once again, sorry for the low quality translation)

(RAW https://ncode.syosetu.com/n4960en/ )

*PakkaPakkaPaka...* (SFX of a horse steps)

"Hihiin! Burururuu~" *horse's neigh*

Uuh, to appear in front of fully armed soldiers is a bit, nay, considerably terrifying...

Even so, standing on this scene, in a rather once in a lifetime big gamble of Sakurako-chan, required a fine performance.

 I am, an actress...

I am, a genius child actress...

 I am, a Hollywood's big star!

 Alright! Self-suggestion complete.

Anyway, because I look like a lovely young girl appearance-wise at least, I don't think the soldiers who participated in the coup would shoot me.

That's what I'd like to think. If I don't think so I think I wouldn't be able to do this.

Leave it to the men who made article 9 of the constitution who have brain full of flowers to do their duty to this extent. Surely if it's them, even while having a gun muzzle pointed on them on the battlefield, with their pacifism, they would preach about the value of peace, about how we need to make peace with the enemies.

For example, assuming that in the occasion where they were being shot down(killed) by the enemies, that noble deed would surely be commended from all over the world, please excuse me from that kind of thing.

Is there anyone amongst the guests who is defenseless~~? It's your turn~

 Eh? There isn't? Huwai? Why?

A~u~, there isn't Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution in this era yet!

 That's a no.

As expected, is it my fate as the first person who suggested such a thing is ought to do?

Besides, rotten sea bream is still a sea bream. Even if I am just a common ossan who came from the future on the inside, outwardly I am a royalty after all.

 Noblesse Oblige... it's Noblesse Oblige...

I am of a noble blood. And, privileged class is accompanied by obligations.

Let us perform our noble's obligation!

 うん。覚悟完了。
Un. I am fully prepared.

Now then, should I try using the loud speaker so that everyone could hear me speak?

[Ah, aah, test test...to those who participated in causing the coup!]

*Zawa* (a buzz in the crowd SFX)

[Your deed is unpardonable!]

 *Zawazawa*

[The August, His Majesty The Emperor has grace us in this Imperial Capital, your deed which troubles His Majesty is impermissible misconduct! The Great Will does not approve of your action!]

 *Zawazawa...*

"O, oi. Why is Fujimiya-sama the one who appeared?"

"Hell if I know that"

"It's Sakurako-chan!"

"What are you doing calling Fujimiya-sama with Sakurako-chan, Sakurako-chan! You're being disrespectful!"

"No, I mean, Sakurako-chan is Sakurako-chan after all"

"Well, certainly it is Sakurako-chan"
(As you know, Sakurako means child of cherry blossom. In short her name worth her appearance)

*Gayagaya* (probably that loud SFX when you heard when someone speaks through a loud speaker, 🔊)

[Overthrowing  political administration by armed forces is unacceptable based on parliamentary democracy!]

 *Zawazawa...*

"Wh, does the Empire have parliamentary democracy?"

"Who knows?"

"Tentatively, the inside is parliamentary democracy, isn't it?"

"More like, what the hell is overthrowing political administration?"

"Isn't that regarding our action?"

"Haha, that can't be..."

"Aw~ Fujimiya-sama is so cute"

"Umu. The real deal is lovely"

 *Gayagaya...*

[In case that you don't return to your own units, this Imperial Princess Fujimiya Sakurako, would be substituting His Majesty as the commander-in-chief, and would defeat you as rebels!]

 *Zawazawa...*

"We're the rebelling army? I've never heard that..."

"Aa, how come we're the rebels?"

"But, what Fujimiya-sama the royalty was saying, is about the fact that we don't have a justification for rebelling isn't it?"

"It means we were tricked by our squads' commanders"

 *Gayagaya...*

[Report to the NCOs! It's not too late now. Return to your own units, line dismissed!]

 *Zawazawa...*

"Oi, what should we do?"

"No matter what we do, if we disobey the Imperial Families, we would truly become a rebel army"

"True huh..."

"Like hell I want to be treated as a rebel"

"Me too"

 *Gayagaya...*

[Everyone who resist would be treated as rebels and be shot to death!]

 *Zawazawa...*

"Fujimiya-sama is so cuuute"

"Umu. Her appearance while wearing the military uniform is lovely too"

"Rather than that, what are we supposed to do from now on? She said we'd be killed if we were to resist, you know?"

"The hell are you saying!? You unpatriotic bastard, don't you know about Fujimiya-sama's virtue!?

"True! Don't you buy the individual government bonds? You damn unpatriotic bastard!"

"I bought a piece you now?"

"Two over here"

"Heh, just so you know I bought five"

"Damn bourgeois!"

"A, anyway, we're an Imperial Army, aren't we?"

"No, in this situation, no matter how you look at it, we're the rebel army, right?"

"What he said!"

"What are we gonna do then?"

"As if I know the answer. We were only following our company's commander after all"

"It means we got the short end of the stick"

"True, isn't it..."

"I'm gonna curse our superiors"

"We can't choose our superiors to our liking in the army after all"

"What are you saying, even in regular army we can't choose our own superiors"

 *Gayagaya...*

[As it is, your parents and siblings too would be branded as traitors, and all of them would cry!]

 *Zawazawa...*

"Our family too!?"

"I don't wanna trouble my mom"

"I certainly don't want my little sister to be caught up in the trouble I caused"

"Our superiors had already been branded as traitors anyway, so isn't better if we just do what Fujiyama-sama had said?"

"Only the commissioned officers are guilty of treason, we're not guilty of the same thing, aren't we?"

"We're gonna be okay, right?"

"Yeah, or rather we're only victims who got rolled in with our superiors' stupidity"

"It's not to late now to do what we're told (by Fujimiya-sama)"

"Now that I think about it, that's true"

 *Gayagaya...*

[Return to your own units, and wait for further orders!]

__*Zawazawa...*

"Do you want to return to the garrison?"

"Aa, let's return"

"Aaah, what a terrible misfortune this was"

"Everything is our superiors', who were being delusional, fault"

"Only their heads were big, but the contents were empty" (it actually said "their heads were like tenpou era coin, but the contents were stupidity")

"They didn't even think about us (common soldiers) a little bit, did they?"

"I was intoxicated, pretending that I was some kind of patriot who cared about his country"

"We were only throwing our weight around without even noticing the bigger picture after all"

 "I envied those guys who were so self-absorbed at that point to a shocking degree" {not entirely sure, but this guy was envious of those euphoric people who think of nothing else because they're self-absorbed with their wrong justice. You know, like that moment when you participate in  beating up someone who was being called a thief even though the incident had nothing to do with you}

"Shouldn't they be grieving for those farm villages that suffers from terrible famine and in poor condition instead of having a banquet?"

"Haha, I bet they don't even know that the refined sake they drank in the banquet was made from rice. Because they're stupid after all" {I think this guy is referring to those stupid superiors who don't think about farm villages who produced the rice which is the ingredients of the sake, if the farm villages being neglected, rice perished, sake can't be made, the superior bastard won't be able to enjoy refined rice sake anymore don't they?}

"United States' prohibition law surely won't be useful here (in Japan)" {referring to the US law about the prohibition of production, distribution, ans importation of alcohol back in the 19th century 1920 - 1930}

"I don't really mind with that law, I am non-drinker after all"

"Things like that is bound to make those superiors pissed" (things, as in something like banning the production distribution, and importation of alcohol. those superiors as in the commanding officers who led the coup)

"I have become a fool huh"

"Let's head back..."

"Aa, I don't want to have anything to do with those idiotic superiors"

"I'm headin' back"

"I wonder whether Fujimiya-sama would let me ask her for a sign?"

"Aa, how about we go asking her?"

"You... how shameless can you be...."

 ガヤガヤ……
*Gayagaya...*

[Report!]

"YES MA'AM!  WE SHALL RETURN TO OUR UNITS AND WAIT FOR FURTHER ORDERS!"

[GOOD!]

"Platoons, form lines!"

"Give Fujimiya-sama a salute, raise your rifle!"

*Kacha* (sfx or rifle being raised)

Ah, I wonder, would they stay raising up their guns if I don't give a respond to their salute?

Well that might be too unreasonable to do, so let me just give them the response they are waiting.

I wanted to give a proper response to this kind of salute at least once after all. There are also photographers after all, so let me give them good pictures to take.

And, should I be the one to let down my hand first?

These people...they raised up their guns with the premise that I knew about such ceremony, but what if actually I don't know about it?

I look like a pre-school girl you know? Did they leave behind that fact somewhere?

「担えー銃!」
"Ease!" (lit, bring down your weapons!)

 *Za* (letting down their rifle's)

"Tuuuurn right!"

"March forward!"

 *Zazazaza...* (Soldiers march SFX)

Phew~ it seems like there's no problem here.

 Aaaaah, I was so scaaaared!

Chapter 7 Miya-sama ni TS Tensei

Chapter 7 February 26, 1936

(RAW https://ncode.syosetu.com/n4960en/)
(TN- Don't forget to give a read my story too! https://www.scribblehub.com/series/73722/carried-over-achievements/ )

 Early morning, in February 26,1936

"Please get up, Fujimiya-sama. It's already in the morning~"

"Nggh~....let me sleep another 5 minutes..."

 ガバっ!
*GABA'!* (Onomatopoeia for something sudden, such as your blanket got pulled off of you)

"Get up immediately!"

"Hie! I-it's cold!"

Suddenly stripping me off the futon, this idiocy, who dares do such thing?
What if my heart stops from being surprised!?

This person is a failure of a lady attendant. Seriously, this is making me angry!

"The outside has become a snowscape since this morning!"

"What!? It was snowing?"

"Yes. It was snowing heavily"

Aaah, was that so. Come to think of it, it was snowing on the day when 2/26 incident happened, wasn't it?
I wonder why there were a lot of turning points in history which happened on snowy days, even on the day when the 47 Ronin raid the Kira-tei residence was also snowing, wasn't it?

Although I don't know other events except these two which happened on snowy days.

 No that's not it,

"Does something strange going on at Daruma-san's residence?" (Referring the assassination plan towards Takahashi Korekiyo which would happen on this date, read the wiki)

"Are you referring to The Financial Minister Takahashi's residence? There's nothing special in particular happening there"

"What about over the Prime Minister's office, Ministry of War, and General Staff's headquarter?"

"No, I haven't received any particular reports that something is happening over there"

"Really... that's great~~"

It seems that because the Control Faction and Imperial Way Faction had been purged from within the military, and the Aizawa incident didn't even happen, I avoided the 2/26 incident.

"I beg your pardon Fujiyama-sama, but the way you've said that was as if a coup d'etat has occured"

"That kind of possibility exists, isn't it"

"Surely it is because recently the state of affairs of the military were suspicious"

"It's the best if nothing happen"

"That is true. This peaceful everyday is the best"

Did you say that everyday is this good of a day? But, even if spears raining from the sky or in this case bombs raining from the sky, because I can't possibly think such things as a good day, my state of mind is far from being at peace.
In other words, a peaceful state of mind can be said as a person who had a flower garden in their brain who ignored and didn't want to face reality.

Namely, worldy desires BANZAI!

 In other words,

"Let's make a snow daruma-!"

I have avoided the 2/26 incident with great pains, and have became a child, so it's a shame if I don't play!

That's what I thought while feeling relieved...

 February 27, 1936. Early morning.

"Fujimiya-sama, it's terrible!"

"Nggh~.... another five minutes..."

"It's a coup! Coup d'etat!"

 ガバっ!
*GABA'!* (SFX for suddenly waking up)

"What!? A coup d'etat?"

Why? Why did the coup d'etat occure a day later?
Was it unwise of me to be negligence once I overcame a history's historical fact?

How did it become like this?

Is this the correction power of history, the one called as backlash?
Or is this somekind of God's mischief or God's will...?

 But,

Don't joke with me! I won't accept such a thing!
Because a history, an era, is something that people who are living today is creating.

Although it's ridiculous coming from me who is a foreign element.

 That's not it,

"How is Daruma-san? Is he alright?"

"Two-squads scale rebel army came to Minister of Finance Takahashi's residence, but they were repulsed.

 Phew~, was the THOMPSON useful?

It's better to apply for license production, because it seems that the Thompson's submachine gun is easy to use.
If it couldn't, copy it without permission!

Ah, but, the supply for its ammunition might be the bottleneck, isn't it.
As far as I remembered, was the type 38 standard infantry rifle was using the 6.5mm bullet, while the type 99 which got manufactured after this was using the 7.7mm bullet?

Well, the Thompson's submachine gun is using bullet type similar to pistol, so it couldn't use rifle's bullet.

However, making the rifle bullets as uniform as possible would make it more convenient one way or another.
Because the type-38 had already been deployed en massed, and soon the sub-machinegun would follow, I wonder is it better to consolidate the bullet to 6.5mm?

Or, U.S forces specification's 7.62mm bullet would be good too.
And in the unlikely event of a war against the United States, the plundered ammunition could be used as it is!

Look, even Sun Tzu said something like 'one must use the weapon snatched from the enemies' wasn't he?

To be able to reuse the weapons and ammunitions, what an eco-friendly to the global environment!

There is certainly room for consideration in this issue.

And then, should I considered about the compatibility issue of aircraft's gun too?
Ah, but, the peashooter of fighter plane's 7.7mm machine gun, bomber and reconnaissance plane's 7.7 rotating machine gun wasn't too useful and became obsolete soon anyway.

That is to say, the Browning M2 me waaaaaaaaaant!
6 12.7mm machine guns are man's romance! Although having 4 20mm cannons are fine too.

By the way, it's not the time to have delusions about this and that like this.
Right now, I have to deal with the 2/26 incident which is occuring a day late.

"Is there any other thing to report?"

"It seems that there is a shoot-out in Miyakezaka"

Given that the guards for VIP and key points were cordial since last summer, does it mean that the coup faction had a hard time gaining total control of the Ministry of War and General Staff headquarter?

"How many people were participating in the coup?'

"Although I am not well-informed of the details, it appears that they numbered from 500 people to around 700~800 people"

 Un?

It feels like the number of soldiers participating in the coup was smaller in comparison to the historical fact.

Because, if my memory wasn't mistaken, there were close to 1500 officers and men taking action in the 2/26 incident.

This was probably due to the purging of Imperial Way Faction's commissioned officers which decreased the scale of the coup.

"I am going out!"

"Fujimiya-sama, that is dangerous!"

"If I were to stay shut inside the mansion just because it's dangerous outside, I would be tarnishing the name of the royal family which is the most important thing of a nation!"

"Even though you can leave such thing to the army"

One part of that army was the one who raised a revolt you knoooooow!

"Who is the one in command of the army?

"Um, it is His Majesty....."

 統帥権をキチガイな軍人どもの玩具にされて堪るものですか!
Is the commander-in-chief the one being toyed by the crazy soldiers!? (Doubtful translation)
『統帥権干犯』この言葉を錦の御旗なんぞには、絶対にさせません。
I won't let [Infringement on the power of the commander] be put on the Brocade's flag. (Doubtful Translation)

Now that I think about it, the military personnels in this era were beyond help, they were quite easily offended.
Why to that extent, for what reason the army was being tyrannical? Since we are thinking to protect our own country, can't we removed our selfishness? I myself don't really understand.

Without the cooperation of each and everyone in the homeland, the soldiers and the like wouldn't be able to shoot even a single gun.

Is it the era? Is the atmosphere of this turbulence era the one that made the soldiers gone mad?
Even though the Japanese people were supposedly docile farmers?

Ah, however, I think it was similar to the Kamakura samurai's madness.

Then, should I imitate the Retired Emperor Go-Toba?

 N?

I feel like the Retired Emperor Go-Toba was the one who got swet away in near Oki islands, wasn't he?

 Well, whatever I guess.

More than that, it's important to prepare my heart.

"Noblesse Oblige. The duty of the nobles. If I don't do it at a time like this, what's the royal family is for!?"

To begin with, the content of this Sakurako-chan is just a middle-aged man who has no relation with nobles whatsoever, a humble soul so to say.
 それは言わぬが花ということで。
That's not something a flower should say. (Doubtful translation)

 It's a secret okay?

"Fujimiya-sama, you have grown up to be a splendid lady...it fills me with emotion!"

"Because the royal families going on a trip to those places is the best way to subdue the confusion"

"Understood. I, too, shall accompany you"

 Off to the battlefield!

 Sakurako-chan, depart.

 With a pony....

Chapter 6 Miya-sama ni TS Tensei

Chapter 6 It's Sakurako, but the person from Aizu in me is screaming in excitement

(RAW https://ncode.syosetu.com/n4960en/)

Imperial subjects of the Great Japanese Empire, how do you do.

As the Imperial Princess, I, Fujimiya Sakurako greets everyone of the Imperial subjects in the name of His Majesty.

The rise of our Empire rests on your shoulders.

Whether you are on a rice field, plantation field, a forest, the sea, on a river, in a mine, a factory, a corporation, a construction site, in a hospital, a small store, and then even in the army. In addition, ladies and gentlemen who works hard dripping in sweat in many other places everyday, I cannot offer you enough gratitude for fulfilling your duties and services.

[Today too, thank your for all of your hard work. Let us do our best tomorrow too!]

[This message is given by the Imperial Princess Fujimiya Sakurako. The time will soon be seven o'clock in the evening. This is J-AK, the number one Japan National Broadcasting Company broadcasting to you]

 Ahh I wanna die...

Un. This is Sakurako who was performing as a clown brilliantly.

It's necessary to have a human sacrifice to expand national influence isn't it...

Ah! By the way, Otou-sama is in the middle of transferring to Tsugaru, the Western Region of Aomori Prefecture.
Until mid-September, Okaa-sama and I also visited Hirosaki, but because Tsugaru seems cold in winter, we fled back to Tokyo before winter comes!

I thought I could see apple orchards as far as my eyes could see while I was in Tsugaru, but that's not the case.
The orchards were here and there sporadically. It seems that it was only after the war that it got expanded more.

And then, I could hardly understand the zuuzuu dialect I heard! (Thick Tohoku dialect)
 Dialect is awesome...

So, in historical fact, it was the Aizawa incident which should have occurred in August, but it seems that the assassination of Nagata Tetsuzan on this world line was apparently prevented.
There are still many scary spots in history, that's why I can't be completely unprepared, but still, can I feel relieved for now?

And if it's tetsuan (it said Tetsuan but probably Tetsuzan, a typo from author) route, would the 2/26 incident occur? This has completely become unpredictable.
In this era, it is said that the person named Nagata Tetsuzan had so much influence.

How do I say this? It feels like playing a HoI mod (Hearts of Iron) where you start in 1935.

Incidentally, Lieutenant Aizawa has gotten himself demoted to Taiwan. Well, it looks like he was scheduled to be appointed in Taiwan originally. Immediately following his transfer, he met an accident and died.
It's scary that we don't know what could happen while overseas isn't it...

 But I digressed.

And so, today I am visiting Tokyo suburban district's town.

"what are you doing there" you asked?

Well, to put it bluntly it looks like a simple walk though?
Once in a while, if I don't stretch my wings, I'd be upset from stress, the cityscape of pre-war Tokyo is quaint and it made me feel better.

The lady attendant and escort came along though, so it's a minus that I am not completely at liberty.
This is already my destiny from being reincarnated, so I have given up about it.

"Fujimiya-sama, please wait for a moment" {Attendant}

"It's the Imperial Family's responsibility to inspect on the life of its subjects you know" {Sakurako}

"Even if you say so, Fujimiya-sama is actually just want to go to a candy store, isn't she?" {Attendant}

 How did you know?

"I want to inspect the eating habits of the common people..." {Sakurako}

"Fine then. But just remember that it's none of my business if Her Highness gets angry again." {Attendant}

Dagashikasi (BUT)! (Dagashi) Cheap snacks(or candies) are the one tempting me!

In other words, I AM INNOCENCE.

 That has already been proven.

"If it's about Okaa-sama, when I returned home I would buy her walnut yubeshi, that should ease her temper immediately" {Sakurako}

"Um, where exactly the store that sells walnut yubeshi?" {Attendant}

"uum, maybe such as in Ginza or Nihonbashi Japanese Sweets shop?" {Sakurako}

"I think Her Highness wishes for walnut yubeshi from Aizu though?" {Attendant}

Well, Okaa-sama is related to Aizu after all, so there's that?
But, Okaa-sama's birth place was in England instead of Aizu though!

Rather than Aizu accent, she speaks more like a returning daughter with a king swinglish after all. (King swenglish English that got mixed with Sweden and Switzerland in grammars for example)

"Do they selling it at Chosuya I wonder?"{Sakurako}

Charge, to Chosu! There shall be no mercy!

But in fact, Aizu lost in Boshin War and couldn't avenge Chosu, thus for the sake of eating Japanese cake in peace, should I call it Chosuya?
I don't know the details. But I'm certain I'm not off the mark either.

[Should this resentment be driven to the northern land's frigid winter!?]

Is it something like this? People of Aizu is tenaciously scary...

Well, I think they deserved sympathy because Aizu was made into a scapegoat, and they even got abandoned by the Shogunate.
Everything is the fault of Satsuma Chosu's bumpkins and that single-minded Yoshinobu!

"Chosuya should only be selling sweet bean jelly and kuzumochi though?" {Attendant}

 Say huwaatt!?

The supposedly famous Chosuya's walnut yubeshi in Aizu isn't being sold at Nihonbashi's Chosuya, you said?
It's the same name, but it was actually not the same franchise?

 I screwed up ...

"....sour kelp is waiting for me~🎵" {Sakurako} (it seems being told to eat sour kelp is her usual punishment)

Then again, things like Chosuya or Chokadoya, stores with that kind of names could be found all over the place in Japan.

"Ah! She escaped. Fujimiya-sama, please wait!" {Attendant}

 あ、くるみゆべしは備後屋にありましたので、ちゃんと買って帰りました!
